Each vial contains:

• Piperacillin Sodium equivalent to Piperacillin 4 g

• Tazobactam Sodium equivalent to Tazobactam 0.5 g
  Dosage Form: Powder for Injection (IV Use)

Description:

Pious 4.5 is a powerful broad-spectrum antibiotic injection combining Piperacillin, an extended-spectrum penicillin, with Tazobactam, a -lactamase inhibitor. This combination is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including many -lactamase producing organisms.

Indications:

Pious 4.5 is indicated in the treatment of moderate to severe infections such as:

• Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia)

• Intra-abdominal infections

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Gynecological infections

• Septicemia

• Bone and joint infections

• Febrile neutropenia (as empirical therapy)

• Hospital-acquired infections

Mechanism of Action:

• Piperacillin disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).

• Tazobactam inhibits -lactamase enzymes that would otherwise degrade Piperacillin, enhancing and extending its antibacterial spectrum.

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults and children >12 years: 4.5 g IV every 68 hours depending on infection severity

• Administer by intravenous infusion over 30 minutes

• Dose adjustments may be required in renal impairment
