Description:

Luradone 40 contains Lurasidone Hydrochloride, an atypical antipsychotic used primarily in the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar depression in adults and adolescents. It works by modulating the effects of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, primarily dopamine and serotonin.

Indications:

• Schizophrenia in adults and adolescents (1317 years)

• Depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression), as monotherapy or adjunct to lithium or valproate

Mechanism of Action:

Lurasidone acts as an antagonist at dopamine D and serotonin 5-HTA receptors, and also exhibits high affinity for 5-HT, 5-HTA, and C receptors. This receptor profile is believed to improve symptoms of psychosis and mood disturbances.

Dosage & Administration:

• Usual adult dose: 40 mg once daily with food (at least 350 calories)

• Dose may be adjusted based on clinical response and tolerability, typically ranging from 20 mg to 160 mg per day.
